Hologic has been at the forefront of dual x-ray (DXA) bone densitometry technology, which has now become the gold standard for assessing bone health and determining osteoporosis risk. The Discovery™ system, developed by Hologic, is a pioneering solution that equips clinicians to identify fractures that might not be apparent through physical examination alone. It provides valuable data on basic bone mineral density and the patient's T-score.
Furthermore, the Discovery™ system offers a range of advanced applications. High Definition Instant Vertebral Assessment™ (IVA™-HD) delivers high-resolution images for evaluating vertebral fractures and visualizes the abdominal aorta to assess calcifications (AAC). It also includes FRAX® fracture risk assessment and Advanced Body Composition™ assessment, featuring InnerCore™ visceral fat evaluation. These capabilities offer clinical practitioners a comprehensive overview of factors like fat mass, lean mass, and visceral fat, which can serve as vital indicators for assessing cardiovascular risk and other metabolic conditions.
